Alfa Music is an Android music player for listening to audio files stored on your device and for streaming music from Audius. The app includes a local music library, Audius browsing and search, playlists, favorites, recent and most-played collections, playback controls, themes, sharing, and contact/about screens.
Yes. Choose Play local music on the start screen to load and play music files stored on your device. Local playback does not require internet after the songs are already on your phone.
Internet is required for Audius streaming, Audius search, Audius artist and playlist loading, ads, and consent/privacy forms. The app shows an internet information icon on streaming screens because music streaming can use mobile data.
No. The app is built for playing local files already stored on your device and for streaming Audius tracks. Audius content is streamed only; it is not downloaded by the app.
The app needs audio/media storage permission to find and play local music files on
your device. On newer Android versions it requests READ_MEDIA_AUDIO; on older
versions it requests storage access.
Notification permission lets the app show the currently playing song in the notification area and provide better playback control while music is playing in the background.
Open the app and tap Play local music. If the library has not been loaded yet, or if reload is enabled in settings, the app scans your device and then opens the local library.
Long-press Play local music on the start screen to force a reload. You can also enable Always reload songs on app start in Settings.
The local library includes tabs for App, Home, Trending on Audius, Playlists, Favorites, Songs, Albums, Artists, and Recently played.
Audius mode includes tabs for App, Home, Trending tracks, Artists, and Playlists. You can stream tracks, browse popular artists, open Audius playlists, and search Audius.
Open the App tab and tap Select Music source. This returns you to the start screen, where you can choose local music or Audius streaming.
In local mode, search looks through songs, albums, and artists stored on your device. In Audius mode, search sends the search term to Audius and shows matching streaming tracks.
Yes. In the Playlists tab, tap New playlist. You can enter a name, optional description, and genres. Playlist names cannot be empty and cannot use built-in playlist names such as Favorite songs, Most played songs, Recently played, or Recently added.
Yes. User-created playlists can be edited, renamed, have songs changed, or be deleted. Built-in playlists are managed by the app and have fewer edit options.
Open a playlist and use Edit songs, or use Add to playlist from supported song menus. The song selection screen supports selecting all songs, deselecting all songs, sorting, and saving with Done.
The app includes Favorite songs, Most played songs, Recently played, and Recently added. These are generated from your listening activity and local library data.
For local songs, tap the favorite button in Now Playing or use playlist actions to add songs to Favorites. You can also remove songs from Favorites and clear the Favorites playlist.
No. Audius songs are streaming songs, and the app treats favorites as a local-library feature. In Audius mode, the favorite button is replaced with an internet information button.
Now Playing includes play/pause, next, previous, seek bar scrubbing, repeat, shuffle, a song list/queue button, sharing, and a menu for actions such as going to the artist or album.
Yes. From Now Playing, use the more menu to go to the artist or album for local songs. For Audius tracks, the app supports going to the Audius artist, while local-only album actions are hidden.
The app includes a Set as a ringtone menu item for local songs. Android may require write-settings permission before the ringtone can be changed. This option is hidden for Audius streaming tracks.
Yes. Use the share button in the mini player or Now Playing screen. The share screen uses the song title, artist, and album art when available.
By default, the app responds to headphone disconnection. In Settings, you can choose whether playback should continue after headphones are disconnected.
Yes. Settings include options to keep the screen awake in Now Playing and while the app is open generally.
Yes. Settings include Hide songs shorter than with a configurable minimum duration in seconds. This helps filter out ringtones, notifications, or other short audio clips.
Yes. Settings include theme selection with multiple colors, background display options, solid background mode, and a background blur option.
The app integrates Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform consent tools. Depending on your region and consent status, the app may show privacy options and ad placements.
Open the App tab and tap Contact us. The app opens an email form for suggestions, comments, or complaints.
Open the App tab and tap About. The About screen shows information about Alfa Music, Audius, partners, and the current version/changelog text.
Audius tracks are streamed from the internet and are not stored as local files. Because of that, local-only actions such as adding to local playlists, going to a local album, setting a ringtone, or using local favorites are hidden or disabled for Audius tracks.
Check that audio/media permission is allowed, then long-press Play local music on the start screen to reload the library. Also check the minimum song duration setting, because very short files can be hidden when that filter is enabled.
Free, with no account required. Full feature list on the Alfa Music app page.
